The Waking
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I cannot go.
We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.
Light takes the Tree, but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.
This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

To me!!
Trivia answers have been posted. Well done, my clever friends! :-)
Today is my birthday - a major decade one. Yesterday I erased the board and wrote the date on it for today. This morning my first class asked me what was going on with the year. I looked over and noticed I'd written 10-3-43 on there. I laughed and thought about how much of a habit it is by now to write my birthdate. Then they gasped, "You're SIXTY?" I told them not to rub it in. I keep asking myself how this happened so fast. All of a sudden, here I am! After this last year, I'm glad to be here and am not complaining though!
Kathy sent flowers to school, which was sweet and thoughtful of her. I got some neat and funny cards from cousins and friends - always wonderful when that happens. Thank you very much!! I had a massage after school which I desperately needed, and now we have our fall break for the next two weeks. Yes!! I need that, too.
