The Waking
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I cannot go.
We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.
Light takes the Tree, but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.
This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

Evil
Who will be the next president? The one whose campaign is run by Karl Rove. He has run dirty, deplorable smear campaigns and has ruined political careers and lives. I've read quite a bit about him and just watched Bush's Brain, a documentary about Rove. He lies and uses buzz words that appeal to their biggest audience, the fundamentalist (emphasis on mental) religious types who don't think for themselves and vote for single issues. From listening to students who echo what they hear at home and church, I figured this one out. They parrot the same things without any thought at all. It's sad and disheartening to live in a country with that man having so much power. I won't even get into how much I believe his monkey puppet was wired to receive messages during the debates. Rove is scary, dangerous, and evil. Truly. And I hate living in a country where these people got us into a political war they could use for their own gain. Where's the morality? What's happened to values? Where have all the ethics gone? How much will it take before people realize what's going on and put a stop to it?
