The Waking

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I cannot go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree, but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

I'm such a grandmother ...

This is a song I made up and sang to Brendan when I kept him a while ago. He sings it to Brian and Melissa and for/with me yesterday when I got to spend some time with him. The song is to the tune of "Howdy Doody Time" and is quite simple:

It's Brendan and Grammy time!
It's Brendan and Grammy time!
We'll read and play and sing
And also eat something!
He'll look up at me and ask, "Eat some fing?"

He was in his carseat in the back seat with his shoe in his hand banging it on the car seat tray in front of him, so I sang/said, "Little Kruschev, banging his shoe!" Then he kept repeating that which was so cute, especially the way he pronounces his l's and r's now. The full box of Kleenex was within reach of Liddle Koosheff. Need I say more?

We had a really good time and enjoyed riding, singing, and playing at the Bellevue Mall play area while Brian and Melissa were at a geek convention at the Maxwell House Hotel. This one was an Animie convention. Looking at the kids dressed in costumes and walking around doing their thing was interesting. Brian and Melissa are working on HyperiCon in June, so I'll be there to help with Brendan. I'll take my camera next time and post some photos of the activities.
