The Waking

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I cannot go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree, but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

Etc

I thought I'd get comments about the house. Are some of you concerned that I've finally gone off the deep end and am no longer in touch with reality? Then you don't know me very well. I spend most of my time there. I even have a bumper sticker that I put on the bulletin board in my classroom that says - Reality is for people without imagination. I've tried to avoid it as much as possible and majored in fiction in college, taught it, read it, watch it, and sometimes write it. I have to live reality but my mind doesn't have to stay involved with it all the time.

Our friend Scaryduck is the subject of an article in the Guardian. Well done, you!

Sheena and I went to lunch yesterday at The Front Porch (this is where you need to start, Michelle ... then build up to Sister's or your system might go into shock). After lunch we rode around to find Jill's new house and continued exploring until we got to the landfill. At first we couldn't decide what that fence was for and wondered if it had something to do with the government. I told her they would arrest me if they'd read some of my email and my blog criticizing the current misadministration. Sheena said she thought it was a waste management place and was right. We stopped where people could take some things to recycle and talked to the man there who gave us an explanation and pointing-out tour from a distance. He explained what took place in all the buildings and what they did with the garbage. It was educational and interesting. We said something about the large, expensive houses in the subdivision, and when he said many of them were selling their houses for less than their appraisal, we remembered the studies done about the water there and birth defects. It was like Erin Brokovich. Reverse osmosis water purification systems can be installed where the water comes into the house which remove most impurities. That way all the water is purified in the house. It's expensive but would be worth it most places - especially there. It might be cheaper in the long run than bottled water, water coolers, and replacement filters, but it might make a huge difference in your health. Check out the bottled water you drink to see if they used reverse osmosis or not. Here are some links on systems I checked out but don't know anything about them personally. Let me know if you have information on this since I'm considering having this done. Right now I use a water filter in my kitchen for drinking and cooking.
