The Waking
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I cannot go.
We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.
Light takes the Tree, but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.
This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

Political Candidates
This is an interesting questionnaire to see which presidential candidates match our opinions and beliefs. The candidate most compatible with mine is Kerry(100%), followed by Kucinich (98%), Dean (93%), Sharpton (92%), Clark (89%), and Edwards (87%). I didn't check a political party, so I could find out where Bu$h ranked and was reassured to discover that he was way in last place - 9%! I was planning to vote for Kerry, so this helps confirm my decision.
The more I read about Kerry's wife, the better I like her, too. She speaks several languages, is well-educated, grew up in Mozambique with interesting parents, has squillions of dollars (from her first marriage to a Heinz who died), and is a philanthropist - said when she goes to her office, it's not to make money but to give it away. She's also older than Kerry (64 and he's 59) and a women's advocate. When he showed her the results of his check-up and was happy his cholesterol was down, she noticed that his PSA was in the normal range but higher than it was on the previous test and had him go back for a follow-up. He had prostate cancer. She sounds interesting.
