The Waking

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I cannot go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree, but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

Retirement Ruminations

There will be quite a few of these in the months to come. Right now I have some ideas about how to answer the question I'll get about what I plan to do after I retire. So far I've come up with these options:

I am going to be a shepherd and sit on a hill with my border collie I'll name Mr. Coach. Possibly I'll call him MC for short. He and I will watch over the flock by night and an angel will appear unto us. This angel will be the state lottery representative presenting me a check for $23 million clear. That's my plan.

I'm going to take in laundry. Money. I'll be a money launderer. I'd think that might pay off pretty well unless I get caught. Maybe I can get Martha's cell in a better prison - which will be cheaper than a nursing home.

Do any of you know what is involved to get one of those merchant numbers or whatever they are called? I want to be able to go to that market where vendors have everything in the world for shop owners to purchase for their stores. I guess I'd have to get a business license. How difficult is that without a business? But with a license I'd be in business. Then I can sell the things I get at market on ebay or maybe from my hill while MC keeps an eye on the sheep. This could be a third option for my answers even though I don't know much about ebay.

OK, I'll get back to grading papers now. My mind wanders, so I might be back.
