The Waking

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I cannot go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree, but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

Return of the Quiz

Because my cousin Sally requested it, the answers are posted in the Squawkbox comment place now. You competitive, perfectionist readers who won't answer questions, lighten up and try some of them. There aren't but about five people reading this blog anyway.

from the Pop Culture Edition of Trivial Pursuit ...

1. MOVIE - How much money was Vivian (Julia Roberts) paid for one week in Pretty Woman?
2. TV - What nickname have Buffy the Vampire Slayer's friends given their crime-solving clique?
3. MUSIC - Which member of the Backstreet Boys entered a substance-abuse facility in June 2001?
4. SPORTS & GAMES - What is Tiger Woods's real first name?
5. BUZZ - What town is the so-called "Kennedy Compound" located in?
6. FAD - What was the slogan of Nancy Reagan's anti-drug campaign? [which was as successful as the No Child Left Behind lunacy]

from the "Know-It-All" Edition ...

7. PEOPLE & PLACES - What is the only state in the continental U.S. that does not observe Daylight Savings Time? [love that state!]
8. ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT - Who was the first American to win the Tchaikovski piano competition?
9. HISTORY - What 16th-century dramatist wrote, "There's many a man hath more hair than wit"?
10. SCIENCE & NATURE - Which weather phenomenon can cause a tightly-closed house literally to explode?
11. SPORTS & LEISURE - What outdoor tossing game was declared illegal in England in 1388 because it distracted men who should have been practicing archery?
12. WILD CARD - What "monster" got its name from a southwestern river?
