The Waking

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I cannot go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree, but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

Ladies Who Lunch

This is a fun week of lunches and visits. Today I had lunch with Amy and Matt who are home from school for the summer. We ate at The Front Porch and had a good time. Emma came by and brought me a book to read and some more of that black walnut fudge that helped cause me to gain more weight! I must put an end to this, or I won't fit into any of my clothes. This is bad! Very, very bad!!

I have an appointment June 23 with a plastic surgeon who comes to Dickson on Mondays. This is to see if there is anything that can be done to help my neck. I asked Dr. Spigel about it and told him the scar tissue and whatever was too tight and pulled on my shoulder. He said he didn't think that was causing the bursitis, so I said something was. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing what might help my neck. I hope something non-surgical will take care of it. Surely it could.

Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend from Watkins for lunch at Dalt's. Tomorrow evening I'm going to the memorial service for Bobbie Williams who died recently from a massive heart attack. I met her at St. James Episcopal Church. She was always really friendly and interested in others.

What are you guys doing? Vacations? Reading good books you can recommend? Seeing movies? What?
