The Waking

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I cannot go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree, but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

Rain

The Cancer Relay is tonight, and it's raining. I don't know if they have alternate plans to have it inside, but I think I'll stay a while and then come home. Brian and Melissa aren't coming with Brendan since he doesn't need to be out in the rain even in his cute yellow terrycloth duck robe. There's a photo of it at the shower, but we need to take his picture in it soon. Mother gave it to him and didn't even know about Scaryduck. When they opened it, Sally, Kathy, and I all said, "Not scary, not a duck" and laughed along with Brian and Melissa. No one paid much attention to us.

I have a full schedule next week of lunches except for Tuesday when I have treatment. I've felt good after that last one and hope this continues. I'm looking forward to lunch with people I haven't seen in a while. It will be fun to catch up.

The rain sounds really good on my metal roof.
