The Waking

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I cannot go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree, but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

Moved

I like the new blog and how much easier it is to navigate that template, so that's where I'll stay. That's my blog now so please go to Babble On to read my posts. Thanks!

This one will still be here for the archives. I've had it since 2002 and will miss it.

New Location

I made a new blog and am trying it out. Come see me here: Babble On. I wrote about HGTV's Design Star.

I'm leaning toward posting there from now on because the new templates are easier to work with. What do you think?

My daughter-in-law Melissa is an artist who has illustrated book covers and books and specializes in fantasy art. Here are some of her paintings that I'd like for you to see. If you want to see more, check out her website. And she's a wonderful wife to my son Brian and mother to their son Brendan. I'm a big fan of hers!!

XM RIP

My radio receiver for my XM subscription has sort of died. It only gets that preview station and has no display. It was doing fine and then not. I got online and reactivated it, but nothing changed. A friend said they don't last long and that she's been through three of them. Planned obsolesence is one thing, but this is ridiculous!

To Sleep, Perchance to Dream ...

Yesterday wiped me out! I went back to bed around 1:30 and slept until 9:30 this morning after sleeping over four hours when I got home yesterday evening. I was always extremely tired after the first day and week when school started again in the fall, but this was exhausting after my life of retired leisure.

I had to get up early and spend all day in the classroom with students watching her teach, so I could offer suggestions. For those of you who have never tried it, teaching is a hard job. There are so many things to do at once and so much to pay attention to. It takes a while to find methods that work for you and to make it your own. So I was thinking about what she needed to do and all the things she was doing right and help her find that balance that allows her to teach and students to feel comfortable learning. After almost 40 years of teaching, so many things are second-nature, and I had to think about how to explain this to someone when I'd rather get up there and show her. That's the main thing with student teaching is that time with the supervising teacher to see how they teach, manage the classroom, motivate, discipline, manage time, give assignments, and on and on. Then they ease into it with supervision and are on their own eventually but still with that teacher to help them. I have to help her with this while she's on the job, and I want her to stay and continue to teach because I think she will be good at it.

Anyway, I'm still tired! What a wimp I am! I go back Monday and Tuesday to help her some more and hope I toughen up enough to stay awake a while after I get home.

BA

Thank goodness, I can get back on my blog! I was miserable being cut off from my blog friends and myself like that. My post was on there, but I couldn't get to it and my comments. Oh, the horror!!

Hello, my name is Joy, and I am a blog addict.

School

I went to school today to observe, help, and mentor. It was good to see many people I used to work with, but I had to keep explaining why I was there and that I wasn't back to teach. It's so horribly hot and humid here now that when I got in the car to come home, it felt like a sweltering oven. I had to stop at Kroger to get some groceries and nearly burned up. When I got home, I put the cold things away, changed clothes, and went to sleep! I woke up around 7:00 in a panic thinking I'd overslept and would be late for school. Then with relief, I thought it was Saturday and felt better as I went back to sleep. When I woke up again after 9:00, I realized it was Friday night. I was exhausted!!! Now I'm going back to bed.

Problem: I cannot get on my own blog! What is going on? David Dust can't use his blog because Blogger is reviewing it for some reason. Now I can't get on mine.
